Family-group
modernisation.
For regional groups and family businesses running on manual processes. Map the bottlenecks, replace the worst three with agent-run workflows, and leave your team owning them.
The premise.
Many of the largest employers in Southeast Asia aren't tech companies. They are family-owned groups with long operating histories, a lot of work held together by spreadsheets and goodwill, and a generational handover that is either underway or coming. They don't need a multi-year digital transformation. They need someone who can tell the difference between a workflow worth modernising and one worth deleting, and who will leave the people inside the business owning the result.
From 2017 to 2022 I worked at the Singapore Economic Development Board on growth and new-business strategy with the C-suites of Singapore's largest groups, work that secured more than $600M in investment. I also cut our due-diligence time by 70% and led the product team for the Singapore Global Network CRM. I know how decisions get made at these leadership tables, and how slowly manual processes let them move.
What "modernisation" means here.
Not a new ERP. Not a multi-year SAP programme. Not a report. We list the workflows your operating teams find most painful, pick the three where agents can carry real load with a human approving the output, and get them running inside the engagement. The rest get a written recommendation and a priority order.
The engagement, in three acts.
- Weeks 1–3 — Diagnose. I sit with operators across your core business units: finance close, procurement, compliance reporting, supplier onboarding, HR intake, customer operations. Every manual handoff gets written down.
- Weeks 4–9 — Build. Three agent-run workflows, each with a named owner inside your team, an approval step and a log of what it did.
- Weeks 10–12 — Hand over. Your owners are trained to run and adjust the workflows. You own the setup, the rules and the roadmap.
Where to look first.
These are illustrations of the kind of workflow that tends to qualify, not results from past engagements.
- 01Finance close. An agent reconciles payables and receivables, flags anomalies and drafts the commentary for a finance lead to review. For example, a close that takes 14 days could shrink by days if the matching work moves off people's desks.
- 02Procurement & supplier onboarding. A long PDF intake replaced by a guided intake that checks documents and schedules the site visit, with a person signing off.
- 03Compliance & reporting. Filings drafted from system-of-record data and reviewed by your team, so deadlines stop turning into a last-minute scramble.
- 04Internal knowledge. A searchable layer over years of SOPs, contracts and board papers, so a new hire doesn't spend months finding out what's already been decided.
What I don't do.
× Not this
- Multi-year "digital transformation" programmes
- Slide decks presented to steering committees
- Teams of juniors billing by the hour
- Rip-and-replace of systems that work
✓ This instead
- Three workflows running in your business inside a quarter
- Working software shown to the leadership, not slides
- One senior person in the room, in Singapore or remote
- Agents that sit on top of what you already run, with a human approving
Discreet first conversation.
For groups and family businesses that would rather not brief the procurement team yet. NDA on request.
